Never before in the record-keeping annals of the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corp. have fixed-rate mortgages been this low. The outlook is for more of the same.
The average 30-year fixed-rate mortgage fell 4 basis points from a week earlier. That left the 30-year mortgage 3 BPS better than the prior record set on Feb. 9, 2012.
Compared to the same week in 2011, the 30-year mortgage was 87 BPS lower.
